Ha Giang province is the final frontier of Vietnam, and the city that goes by the same name is a gateway to the astonishing far north. Ha Giang city has many homestays and after a long drive from Hanoi and short test on the motorbikes this is where we will be having a good night sleep. In preparation for the adventure that lies ahead.
You will be on your way to the Dong Van Karst Plateau. This geological park was recognized by UNESCO in 2010. It became the first global Geopark in Vietnam and the second in Southeast Asia. It is seen as one of the most beautiful ones in the world. Twisty turns, spectacular views and a colourful display by local ethnic minorities traditional clothes. We’ll pass through the heaven’s gate into the valley of Quan Ba. The further north we go, the more spectacular the terrain becomes. Until 1945 this area was controlled by feudal lords who grew rich from the production of opium. Their palace is on today’s route. It is the most interesting building in the region.
Every evening there is market in Dong Van. On Sunday morning it is one of the biggest and most colorful ones of the region. Many members from different ethnic minorities gather here to find an opportunity to sell their goods. From the colorful market to a pass of outstanding beauty, Ma Pi Leng is only a stone’s throw away from Dong Van. Have your camera handy and prepare to be amazed. This pass can be counted for as one of the most impressive ones in whole of Vietnam. After Ma Pi Leng, it’s off to Du Gia “fairy village” via a back-country road.
Rice paddies, warterfalls and streams. The lush valley of Du Gia is a welcome change after the rocky plateau of Dong Van. This morning we will ride from Du Gia to Ha Giang.
Get introduced to the astonishing beauty of Vietnam’s most northern region during this 4-day adventure. With an expert guide, you will explore ‘the happiness road’, Dong Van Karst Plateau, Twin mountains, and many other interesting destinations. This is, without a doubt, the most spectacular scenery of Vietnam. Prepare to be amazed!
