Experience one of the most spectacular but least-travelled areas in northern Vietnam. Hoang Su Phi is a remote district west of Ha Giang province. The road to Hoang Su Phi winds its way along high mountain passes offering fantastic views of the valleys below. You will be taken to breathtaking homestay settings where the surrounding area can be explored by foot. The mountainous landscape is covered in thick forests broken up by small tea farms and the iconic, staircase-like rice terraces that Vietnam is so famous for. The remote nature of this region delivers some rare unspoiled beauty. This is the homeland of 12 ethnic groups with each their own lifestyle and traditional cultures.
This tour take you to the spectacular views, through the rustic village to experience with local host and learn incredible things of unique culture.
Nam Hong is a small village in Hoang Su Phi, accessible by following a steep road up from the valley of Thong Nguyen. The majority of the families who live here are from the Red Dzao ethnic minority. The homestay where we will spend the next two nights is perfect for gazing over the rice terraces towards the distant mountains. The sun slowly falling asleep, leaving behind a colorful display in a setting you will long remember.
Giang Thuong, Giang Ha and Nam Ai villages consist of no more than a dozen households. These tiny Red and Long Dress Dzao villages are hidden deep in the mountains and many find it fascinating to see the way the local people make a living here. Kind hearted, hardworking and incredibly hospitable, the indigenous people here are one of the main reasons why visitors come back to visit again. Back at the homestay, after a long day on your feet, there is the opportunity to enjoy an herbal bath.
Besides rice, tea is another big source of income for farmers in Hoang Su Phi. With “Shan Tuyet tea” being one of the local specialities. Shan Tuyet tea comes from trees that are hundreds of years old. You will see these trees during the trek around Ho Thau where you will also visit a local tea factory
