Hue City is not only beautiful and charming, but also known for its unique ancient architecture, including the 7-tomb system of kings Nguyen dynasty.
During the Nguyen Dynasty, there were 13 kings in the throne but only 7 tombs were built. Each mausoleum is the king’s choice of architecture and location, so each mausoleum here has its own architectural features that suit the personality and interests of each king.

1 – The romantic Tomb of Tu Duc
Located in a narrow valley in Duong Xuan Thuong village, Cu Chanh canton, Tu Duc Tomb is probably the most beautiful tomb among the tombs of the Nguyen kings because of the harmony between the natural landscape “charming love paint”. and the vast architectural space. The tomb is also called Khiem Lang because nearly 50 buildings in the tomb all have the word ‘Khiem’ in their name.
With a large natural space surrounded by a green vegetation and near a large lake, Tu Duc mausoleum appears with ancient features and sophisticated architecture with nature, as somewhat reflects the romantic poet soul of the king.
Before his death, the king also came here to read, relax and recite poetry. In addition, Minh Khiem theater project in Tu Duc mausoleum is one of the oldest theaters in Vietnam, still preserved until now.

2 – The grave of Minh Mang is solemn
Far from Hue 12 km city center and located on Cam Khe mountain, Minh Mang tomb is the resting place of Minh Mang king – the second king of Nguyen Dynasty. This mausoleum consists of a tomb next to a fragrant lotus pond and surrounded by lush pine groves.
Minh Mang Mausoleum is a mausoleum that attracts visitors with tranquil lines in architecture and harmoniously combines in the painting and poetry space of the lyrical natural landscape, partly showing dignified, strict but equally romantic of the king.

3 – Sophisticated Khai Dinh tomb
Located on the side of Chau Chu Mountain, Khai Dinh Tomb is the resting place of the 12th emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty. Despite its modest size compared to the tombs of its predecessors, the Khai Dinh tomb was built very elaborately and exquisitely in a period of up to 10 years.

4 – Gia Long tomb
Gia Long mausoleum (also known as Thien Tho Lang) is located on Thien Tho mountain population and is the resting place of the first king of the Nguyen Dynasty. The mausoleum is located along the Perfume River, so on the road, you can take a boat to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the Perfume River, then dock at Kim Ngoc boat whalf and take a short walk to visit the tomb.

5 – Simple Duc Duc mausoleum
Duc Duc Tomb is located in An Cuc Ward and is the burial place of three kings: Duc Duc (father), Thanh Thai (son) and Duy Tan (grandson). King Duc Duc ascended the throne for 3 days and was deposed and starved to death in prison. A few years after King Duc Duc’s son Thanh Thai ascended the throne, he began to build a tomb for his father.
During the anti-French period, Duy Tan and Thanh Thai kings exchanged the throne to fight for sovereignty for the nation and were exiled to exile and later buried at the Duc Duc mausoleum. Like the patriotism of the two men, ready to trade the throne of power, Duc Duc tomb so that the tomb of Hue is very simple, modest.

6 – Peaceful Thieu Tri tomb
Also known as Xuong Lang and lying on the back of Thuan Dao Mountain, Thieu Tri Mausoleum is the resting place of the King Thieu Tri. Of the 7 tombs in Hue, Thieu Tri Tomb is the tomb built in the shortest time with only 10 months.
Thieu Tri Mausoleum features architectural drawn and selected from the architecture of Gia Long and Minh Mang tombs. Mausoleum has lush green fruit gardens as fences instead of the surrounding wall Citadel. In the peaceful countryside space of immense rice fields and lush green orchards, Thieu Tri Mausoleum creates a sense of familiarity, intimacy but extremely quiet, relaxed for visitors. .

7 – Dong Khanh Mausoleum in harmony
Dong Khanh Tomb is located in Thuong Hai hamlet and was built during 35 years in 4 kings. Built during the transitional period of Vietnamese history, the tomb of Dong Khanh possesses classical folk feudal architecture intertwined with the influence of newly introduced Western European architecture. The experiment of new architecture, harmonizing architecture and natural landscape in the area has brought unique architecture into Dong Khanh mausoleum.
