When the Hoa Binh hydroelectric was built, Thung Nai is a large dams. The high mountains now are the islands among the vast water surface. Therefore, now it become an ecotourism which attract many people come here to visit and relax after the hustle and bustle days in the city.
About spirituality, people come here to pray the God in Thac Bo temple. In the legends, in Le Loi King period, there were two womens who help King Le Loi conveyed the foods and help soldier fighting against enemy. After they pass away, they still appear to help people passing the river so resident built the temple to pray the healthy, lucky and peaceful.
From Ha Noi, drive about 110km you will arrive Thung Nai. At the wharf, you can hire a private boat or join any boat if there is seat available. Spending about 3,5 hour to visit temple and discovery Palm island, Windmill island, Thac Bo cave…,customer often book meals on boat with local foods.
