Duong Lam ancient village is a typical village of the Red River Delta, a village that has existed for hundreds of years and has been preserved for generations.
From Hanoi, it will take you about 2 hours to travel, first we will pass through Son Tay ancient citadel , a citadel built in 1822 during the reign of King Minh Mang, a large citadel with unique architecture, built entirely of laterite. The outer ring is a wall about 400m long and 5m high with guard posts on each side, the citadel has 4 gates: East, West, South, and North. In the citadel, there is a sacred hall where the king made a ceremony to pray to heaven and a memorial house for martyrs who died in the war. The outside of the citadel is surrounded by a lake.Currently, this is the largest citadel in Hanoi that is still relatively intact.
About 5km from the ancient citadel, we will come to Duong Lam ancient village. Currently, the entrance to Mong Phu village remains original since it was built in the 17th century along with a system of old houses, communal houses, village wells .. .building materials are mainly made from laterite, a typical material of Son Tay area.
Coming here, visitors can not only admire the ancient architecture of hundreds of years old constructions, but also enjoy the peaceful feeling of a northern Vietnamese village.
This is also the only place in Vietnam with two kings, visiting the mausoleum of King Ngo Quyen, the first king of Vietnam’s feudal dynasty ascended the throne in 938 after defeating foreign invaders to unify the country.
